Ingredients
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 pkgs. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. milk (warm)
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. milk (warm)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 sticks margarine, melted
Method
- Mix ingredients in small bowl and let stand until double in bulk
- 8 1/4 c
- All above ingredients should be at room temperature before making bread
- Add flour, salt in large bowl
- Mix eggs, sugar and milk together, then add to flour mix
- As you are kneading and mixing the dough with your hands, slowly add melted butter to dough mixture, wetting hands at the same time with butter to prevent dough from sticking
- Alternate kneading and adding melted butter until all the butter is gone
- Keep kneading until dough has air bubbles and feels elastic
- Lightly sprinkle flour over dough ball – cover bowl and let rise until double in bulk
- Punch down dough and let rise for a second time
- Then place dough into greased loaf pans
- Let rise again
- It takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to rise each time
- Brush tops with egg whites
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
- Makes 3 loaves
