Pycnogenol works in part by inhibiting production of peroxides, which stimulate inflammatory activity in white blood cells. In a laboratory experiment, researchers found that Pycnogenol reduced peroxide formation and increased levels of glutathione, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant.
