Chocolate Fudge Frosting Recipe


Makes about 3 cups

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup plain or vanilla soy milk
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup vegan margarine
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


  1. In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, soy milk, chocolate and maple syrup and bring just to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook until the chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes
  3. Remove from the heat and add the margarine and vanilla
  4. Let the mixture cool to room temperature without stirring, 15 minutes
  5. After the mixture is cooled, beat it until it is creamy and stiff enough for spreading on a cake
  6. If it becomes too stiff, add a few drops of hot water and beat until creamy
  7. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days
