Obesity

Obesity is such a big subject I'm not even going to attempt to cover with home remedies.

Just let me say, I've been there, obese I mean, and yes like most of you reading this, I can come up with a dozen reasons why there was a good reason for my obesity.

Today I am 130lb and I intend to stop at around 120-125 depending how I feel when I get there.

Now let me tell you that the ONLY thing that will stop the obesity is a change in lifestyle and mental attitude.

Yes, undoing the damage you've already done, ie reversing the obesity is going to be hard, but the hardest part will be changing things so you don't feel you are constantly on a diet.

Do some simple math.  Just how obese are you?  What weight do you want to get to?

Let's suppose you are a woman, 20 stone, that's 280lb.  You may not be that obese but we'll use that as an example to see how you can deal with your own obesity.

What I'm going to say isn't rocket science but I'm amazed people continue to stay obese, gaining more and more fat, because they fail to grasp the obvious.

  • Take a long term view on your obesity problem.  To get 280lb down to 140lb (10 stone) would take 70 weeks at 2 lb a week.
  • Make that 2lb a week happen by cutting 1lb with food and 1lb with exercise.  This may seem slow but the chances are the rate at which you became obese was much slower than this.  By slowly reversing your obesity you have more chance of the new diet and lifestyle not being that far different to  after the loss phase.
  • Give yourself a break.  No guilt trips, no martyrdom over holidays etc..  Stretch the  70 weeks to two years, 104 week.  Factor in holidays and bad weeks when you don't lose or even gain a little.
  • Plan the whole 2 years writing down you target weight for each week, allowing for holidays and bad weeks, a 'budget' figure every 3 months say.
  • Accept that this is you new lifestyle now.  It's not just a diet phase.  If you think like that obesity will soon rear it's ugly head again.
  • Losing 1lb of fat means cutting 3500 calories a week that's 500 calories a day.  Get a product like Fitday and use it until you truly understand just how many calories you are eating.
  • Likewise that 1lb that's coming from exercise  takes 500 calories a day.  Make sure you understand what you need to do burn 500 extra calories a day, and trust me, obesity or not, you are going to start feeling better as soon as you stick to this.

If your obesity problem is more or less than the example I've given, work it out using the same 2lb a week plan I've given.  60lb to lose means 30 weeks, divide by 3 and add to allow for holidays and bad weeks, ie plan over 40 weeks.

If you really want to go faster, I would recommend short bursts of low-carb eating.  Perhaps 3 or 4 weeks at a stretch maximum.  Yes you can do more but only do this if you are focused enough to read and take on board the meaning of ketosis, dealing with lack of fibre, your GP not liking you eating a high fat diet and so on.  The fat issue is not a problem if you truly understand nutrition and know how, what and when to eat.  Most people can't stay focused on their diet long enough to low-carb properly for long periods of time.

Good luck with your obesity

This part of our obesity page is for our internet friends who have sites of a similar subject.  We cannot and do not endorse any obesity tablets.  You can read my thoughts on obesity above and draw your own conclusions.  One such obesity product is Akavar 20/50.  If you wish to read about obesity products I can't blame you.  When it comes to obesity we are all looking for an instant fix.  Just remember what I said, getting rid of obesity is a lifestyle change!
