Cranberry Sorbet Recipe


Makes about 1 1/2 pints

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cranberry juice and cranberries and bring to a boil
  2. Cook, stirring, over low heat until the cranberries pop and sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes
  3. Remove from the heat and strain into a bowl
  4. Stir in the orange juice and orange zest
  5. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour
  6. Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturers instructions
  7. When the mixture is finished churning in the machine, it will be soft, but ready to eat
  8. For a firmer sorbet, transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze no more than 1 to 2 hours for best flavor and texture
