Creamed King Crab And Spinach Soup Seafood Recipe


  • 6 ounces king crab meat (up to 8 ounces)
  • 1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups half and half


  • 2 cups milk


  1. Slice crab; reserve liquid
  2. Cook spinach according to package directions; drain
  3. Melt butter in large saucepan
  4. Add onion; saute until tender
  5. Blend in flour and spices
  6. Gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly; heat to boiling
  7. Puree spinach mixture in blender or food processor
  8. Add half-and-half, crab liquid and crab
  9. Heat thoroughly
  10. Do not boil
  11. Creamed King Crab and Spinach Soup can be served chilled
  12. Yield: 5 cups
