25 Ways To
Exercise When You Barely Have a Minute
--by Joan Price
You think
you don't have time to exercise? Research shows that frequent short bouts of
exercise have cumulative effects, and a bunch of fitness bursts confer almost
the same health and weight-loss benefits as one longer session. Here is just one
idea from 25 great ways you can fit many minutes of exercise into your day!
3. Phone
Push Ups. Each time you make a phone call, do push ups against the desk
while you wait for the person to answer. If you don't have a speaker phone, do
one-armed push ups. Change arms with each call.

And......
Here are
some great ideas for cutting calories:
- Use chicken broth instead of butter or margarine in stuffing.
- For that morning latte, choose non-fat milk rather than whole milk.
- Leave the cheese off of sandwiches and hamburgers.
- Bake, rather than fry, your french fries.
Calories Burned Badminton
- Follow the low fat directions on the box when making brownies, cakes and
cookies.
- Choose low-fat turkey sausage instead of regular sausage.
- Choose fruit crepes over the higher calorie, higher fat, egg and bacon
crepe.
- Instead of drinking 2 cups of whole milk during the day, switch to fat
free milk (which still has the same amount of calcium).
Calories Burned Badminton
- Eliminate the gravy on your mashed potatoes.
- If restaurants do not offer a low-calorie salad dressing, ask for regular
dressing on the side, such as Ranch, and mix it with mild salsa for half the
calories per serving.
- Instead of chocolate syrup on an ice cream sundae, use fresh berries or
other in-season fruit of your choice as a topping.
- Grab the granola bar from the vending machine instead of the fudge nut
brownie.
Calories Burned Badminton
- Ask for grilled fish without sauce or marinade and flavor it yourself with
fresh lemon or lime juice.
- Order a tall non-fat latte at a coffee shop instead of a tall (12oz.)
coffee with whole milk.
- Leave 10 french fries uneaten on your next order.
- Skip the high calorie energy drink and choose water flavored with lemon or
lime.
Calories Burned Badminton
- Eat an open-faced sandwich (eliminate 1 slice of bread).
- Eat the “fun-sized” candy bars instead of the regular size ones.
- Eliminate the extra butter on your popcorn at the theater.
- Eat baked potato chips rather than regular potato chips and you will save
half the calories.
More way to burn calories:
Do your housework
with vigor. Before you begin your chores, put on your favorite music with an
upbeat tempo. Work at a much quicker pace than usual. Not only will you burn
extra calories but you will also finish quicker.
Go for a walk. Take a friend, neighbor, co-worker or a dog and go for a brisk
walk. Walking at a fast pace offers a variety of health benefits; it is a low
impact form of exercise, it is convenient and it is free.
