25 Ways To
Exercise When You Barely Have a Minute
--by Joan Price
You think
you don't have time to exercise? Research shows that frequent short bouts of
exercise have cumulative effects, and a bunch of fitness bursts confer almost
the same health and weight-loss benefits as one longer session. Here is just one
idea from 25 great ways you can fit many minutes of exercise into your day!
5. Burn
'Em, Don't Eat 'Em. Skip the pastries and get outside. Walk around the block
as briskly as possible. You'll energize physically and mentally, and do better
work when you get back. At a 4 MPH pace, you can burn 100 calories in 15
minutes.

of this article and learn more than 300 exercises that you can do at home, on
the road, at the office, at the park, even at the grocery store in

Exercise Book
And......
Here are
some great ideas for cutting calories:
- At Mexican restaurants, ask for steamed corn tortillas to dip in salsa
instead of the basket of high fat chips.
- Order thin crust pizza vs. pan pizza with thick crust.
- Choose your piece of cake from the middle! You’ll get much less icing on a
centerpiece than on an edge piece.
- Eat ½ of a sandwich at lunch and save the other ½ for dinner with a salad.

- Ask for a take home container to come with your meal. Eat only half of the
meal served, and take the other half home.
- Omit or decrease by half the butter or margarine in boxed macaroni and
cheese.
- Choose lite beer or wine spritzers instead of frozen or fruit based
drinks.
- Omit or decrease by half the oil or other fat listed in the directions of
boxed side dishes.
Calories Burned Basketball
- Instead of chocolate cake, have a slice of angel food cake.
- Select an appetizer as your main entrée.
- At Italian Restaurants, order a cup of minestrone or vegetable soup as an
appetizer instead of the garlic bread.
- Go easy on the cheese on your pizza.
Calories Burned Basketball
- Dilute fruit juice with ½ water and sip throughout the day.
- Choose the burrito rather than the fried chimichanga.
- Instead of french fries, order a cup of broth-based soup as a side item.
- Use a small bowl for your morning cereal instead of a larger bowl.
Calories Burned Basketball
- Substitute a single piece of Canadian bacon for the usual two thick strips
of bacon.
- Split a meal with your spouse or friend next time you go out to eat.
- Choose soft tacos rather than crispy tacos.
- Eat Papads with curry not rice.
More way to burn calories:
Drink eight
pints of ice water a day. According to "Mens Health" magazine, your body will
expend 123 calories of heat daily to warm the water to body temperature. That
amounts to losing a pound a month.
Eat breakfast. According to research at Duke University, those who skip
breakfast eat more later and choose foods higher in fat and calories.
