Easy Pepper Steak Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1½ pounds (680 g) beef round steak
  • ¼ cup (31 g) plus
  • 1 tbsp (8 g) flour, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped or sliced onion
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1½ cups (225 g) green bell pepper, sliced in ½-inch (1
  • 3 cm strips
  • 1 can 28 ounces, or 785 g no-salt-added diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) low-salt soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon
  • worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsps (45 ml) water

Method

  1. Cut beef into strips
  2. Combine ¼ cup (31 g) flour and pepper
  3. Toss with beef until well coated
  4. Place in slow cooker
  5. Add onions, garlic, and green pepper slices
  6. Mix well
  7. Combine tomatoes, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce
  8. Pour into slow cooker
  9. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours
  10. One hour before serving, turn to high
  11. Combine remaining 1 tablespoon (8 g) flour and water to make smooth paste
  12. Stir into slow cooker
  13. Cover and cook until thickened
  14. Serve over rice
  15. Yield: 6 servings
  16. Per serving: 275 g water; 211 calories (17% from fat, 54% from protein, 28% from carb)
