Forgetting has its useful function, too. Since there is no need for everything to be stored in our brains, the different stages of human memory help to filter out what isn’t too important. Since important things get used or thought about more, those are the things that get upgraded to longer-term memories. This helps to protect us from the flood of information coming our way every day, every hour, every minute!

A neutral or warm water enema is an effective remedy for a constipated colon which is a major cause for the toxaemic condition of the uterus. This will relieve the bowels and thus reduce any excessive pressure on the uterus and other pelvic organs. A regular cold hip bath for a duration of 10 minutes twice every day is very helpful in relieving congestion and inflammation of the uterus. Wet girdle packs, twice every day, on an empty stomach, also relieve congestion’s and infections in the uterus and other pelvic organs. It is advisable that women with a history of repeated abortions should adopt these techniques before conception and continue them during the first two months of pregnancy.

Although these studies sound impressive, they suffer from one severe weakness: They were open studies. This means that the participants knew they were taking 5-HTP. As has been shown in innumerable studies, the power of suggestion will produce favorable effects in a high percentage of people who know, or falsely believe, that they are taking a real treatment. Thus, the studies described here can’t be taken as conclusive.

Sometimes people with chronic hepatitis may be asymptomatic, and at other times they may experience extreme fatigue and loss of appetite. In both acute and chronic hepatitis liver enzymes become elevated-one sign of liver disease. Noninfectious hepatitis may result from drug or alcohol abuse. Often, the stress of hepatitis reduces levels of glutathione, one of the body’s principal antioxidants, which is made in the liver. The viral and inflammatory stresses, combined with low glutathione levels, compromise liver function and may lead to cirrhosis or liver failure.
