Read Chapter One - Highway to Homoeopathy
Samuel Hahnemann defined cure as: "The rapid, gentle and permanent restoration to health. The removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest and most harmless way. Cure is recovery undisturbed by after suffering." Meanwhile, Dr Constantine Hering - one of the founders of homoeopathy in America - commented: "Illness will only be cured when the symptoms re-appear in the reverse order of their original development. The disease will leave the body from the top downwards, from the mind to the body, from inside outwards, and from the main organs to those of lesser importance." Many times we are unable to deal with the causative factor as such. A man may become ill because of a domineering boss or a woman due to a baby howling and crying non-stop. Although we might know the causative factors, it may not be practicable or even desirable for the man to terminate his employment or the woman to leave her baby. In each case although we are aware of a causative factor, it may not be the important underlying cause but merely a trigger. The main factor is their inability to cope with the situation. Removing the domineering boss or the howling baby will merely act as palliatives, for should similar situations arise they still would be unable to cope with them. That is why homoeopathy treats the whole person, their personality, their desires, their needs, their fears, the person in totality. More about this in a later chapter.
