Hot Not Butter Rum Recipe


Makes 2 to 4 servings

  • 1 1/2 cups apple juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 cup vegan vanilla ice cream
  • 1 teaspoon vegan margarine
  • 2/3 cup dark rum
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)


  1. In a large saucepan, combine the apple juice, water and sugar and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar
  2. Reduce the heat to a simmer and stir in the vegan ice cream, margarine, rum and cinnamon
  3. Heat, stirring, until hot and well blended
  4. Pour into 2 large mugs or 4 small cups
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with cinnamon sticks, if desired
