Indonesian Avocado Smoothie Recipe


Makes 2 servings

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee
  • 2 ripe Hass avocados, pitted, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 1/4 cups chilled soy milk or other nondairy milk
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 cup chilled chocolate soy milk (optional)


  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar and instant coffee over medium heat
  2. Simmer, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved
  3. Set aside to cool, about 15 minutes
  4. In a blender or food processor, combine the avocados, soy milk, reserved syrup and ice and blend until smooth
  5. Divide between 2 tall glasses and top each with 1/2 cup of the chocolate soy milk, if desired
  6. Serve immediately
