Orange-Glazed Tofu Asparagus Recipe


Makes 4 servings

  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 (16-ounce) package extra-firm tofu, drained and cut into 1/4-inch strips
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asian chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons canola or grapeseed oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 8 ounces thin asparagus, tough ends trimmed and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces


  1. In a shallow bowl, combine the mirin and cornstarch and blend well
  2. Add the tofu and toss gently to coat
  3. Set aside to marinate for 30 minutes
  4. In a small bowl, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and chili paste
  5. Set aside
  6. In a large skillet or wok, heat the canola oil over medium heat
  7. Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds
  8. Add the marinated tofu and the asparagus and stir-fry until the tofu is golden brown and the asparagus is just tender, about 5 minutes
  9. Stir in the sauce and cook for about 2 minutes more
  10. Serve immediately
