Fish Stew Ingredients

Portuguese Fish Stew

  • 6 slices fresh fish, any deep sea fish
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 5 whole allspice
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • MARINADE:
  • 1 c. white wine
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 hot chili peppers to taste
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • Method

  • Crush garlic, chili peppers, and salt in a mortar; add wine and vinegar.
  • Marinate fish for a few hours or overnight.
  • Place fish in a deep baking dish, add all ingredients and enough water to cover fish.
  • Bake uncovered for about 45 minutes in a preheated 400 degree oven.
  • Serves 3-4 people.
