Portuguese Stew Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cans kidney beans
  • 3 ham hocks
  • 2 qts. water
  • 2 cans tomato paste
  • 4 sticks Polish sausage, sliced
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. coarse chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper

Method

  1. Put above ingredients in large covered pan and cook 1 hour at 350 degrees or on top of stove, stir once or twice
  2. Add 6 cups or 1 whole cabbage, shredded, 7 to 8 carrots, sliced and 8 to 9 potatoes, diced
  3. Cook about 30 minutes until carrots are cooked
  4. Turn on warm until served
