Real Turkey Soup Recipe


  • bones from a turkey, with some meat left on them.
  • 1 whole, peeled onion
  • 4 scrubbed, sliced carrots
  • 2 cups macaroni or rice
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • salt.


  1. Place turkey bones and peeled onion in a 6-quart stockpot
  2. Cover with water
  3. Simmer, covered, for 2-3 hours
  4. Remove from heat
  5. Using slotted spoon, remove and discard onion
  6. Place turkey bones in strainer; return pan to heat
  7. Add sliced carrots and can of tomato soup to pan and simmer, covered, while working with bones
  8. While carrots are cooking, pull all the bits of meat from the bones and set aside
  9. Discard bones once all the meat is removed
  10. Add turkey meat and macaroni or rice to pan
  11. Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat and salt to taste
