Sherry-Braised Baby Bok Choy Recipe


Makes 4 servings

  • 2 tablespoons canola or grapeseed oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 medium heads baby bok choy, trimmed and halved lengthwise
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water


  1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat
  2. Add the garlic and ginger and cook until softened, about 30 seconds
  3. Arrange the bok choy halves in the skillet in a single layer
  4. Add the sherry, soy sauce and water
  5. Cover and simmer until the bok choy is tender, 15 to 20 minutes, turning once about halfway through and adding a bit more water if needed so the vegetables do not burn
  6. Serve immediately
