Steamed King Crab With Choice Of Sauces Seafood Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds king crab split legs — thawed if necessary
  • melted butter or margarine.
  • *** SPICY TOMATO RELISH ***
  • 1/2 cup coarsely-chopped tomato
  • 2 tablespoons catsup
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely-chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely-chopped green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coarsely-chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon coarsely-chopped parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
  • 1 dash garlic salt
  • *** SHALLOT CREAM SAUCE ***
  • 3 tablespoons minced shallots or onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed dill weed
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup dairy sour cream
  • salt — to taste.

Method

  1. Spicy Tomato Relish: In food processor or blender finely chop all ingredients together
  2. Do not puree mixture
  3. Alternatively, vegetables can be finely minced with a knife
  4. Makes 3/4 cup
  5. Shallot Cream Sauce: Saute shallots or onion in butter or margarine until softened
  6. Stir in flour, dill weed and pepper
  7. Cook and stir about 1 minute
  8. Blend in sour cream; salt to taste
  9. Makes about 1/2 cup
  10. Cut crab into serving-sized pieces; steam on rack over 3/4 inch boiling water 5 minutes or until thoroughly heated
  11. Microwave Method: In 10-inch round or 8- by 8- by 2-inch microwave-proof dish, microwave king crab split legs on High 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until thoroughly heated
  12. Rotate dish 1/4 turn every minute
  13. Serve crab with melted butter and Spicy Tomato Relish or Shallot Cream Sauce
  14. This recipe yields 4 servings
