Barbecued Brisket Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds (1 8 kg) beef brisket
  • 355 ml beer
  • 1 can (8 ounces, or 225 g) no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • 2 tsps prepared mustard
  • 2 tbsps (28 ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsps (28 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (150 g) chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Method

  1. Place brisket in slow cooker
  2. Combine remaining ingredients
  3. Pour over meat
  4. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours
  5. Remove meat from sauce
  6. Slice very thinly
  7. Yield: 10 servings
  8. Per serving: 217 g water; 274 calories (25% from fat, 63% from protein, 12% from carb)
  9. Serve on rolls or over couscous
