Ingredients
- 4 pounds (1 8 kg) beef brisket
- 355 ml beer
- 1 can (8 ounces, or 225 g) no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 2 tsps prepared mustard
- 2 tbsps (28 ml) balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsps (28 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 tbsp (15 g) brown sugar
- 1 cup (150 g) chopped red bell pepper
- 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
Method
- Place brisket in slow cooker
- Combine remaining ingredients
- Pour over meat
- Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours
- Remove meat from sauce
- Slice very thinly
- Yield: 10 servings
- Per serving: 217 g water; 274 calories (25% from fat, 63% from protein, 12% from carb)
- Serve on rolls or over couscous
