Ingredients

- 1 gallon cucumbers
- 8 small onions
- 2 green peppers
- 1/2 cup slat
- 5 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 tablespoons mustard seed
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 5 cups vinegar
Method
- Slice cucumbers crosswise, paper-thin, slice onions thin and shred peppers.
- Mix salt with vegetables, cover with cracked ice, weigh down and let stand 3 hours.
- Drain well.
- Make pickling syrup next.
- Mix sugar, turmeric and cloves together.
- Add mustard seed, celery seed and vinegar.
- Pour over sliced pickles and heat to scalding.
- DO NOT BOIL.
- Pour into hot jars and seal.
