Basic Cheese Souffle Recipe


  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 medium sweet onions, chopped
  • 5 slices fresh bread, cut into cubes
  • 10 oz. evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 C. shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Set your oven to 350 degrees F before doing anything else and lightly, grease a 1 1/2-quart souffle dish
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and saute the onions for about 10-15 minutes
  3. Remove from the heat and transfer the onions into a large bowl
  4. Add the bread cubes, eggs, milk, 3/4 C of the cheese and salt and stir to combine place the mixture into prepared souffle dish and top with the remaining 1/4 C of the cheese
  5. Cook in the oven for about 25 minutes
