Salsa Beef Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
  • 1 pound (900 g) beef round steak, cut in bite-size cubes
  • 520 g low-salt salsa
  • 1 can (8 ounces, or 225 g) no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic 2 tablespoons (30 g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (180 g) no-salt-added diced tomatoes

Method

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; brown beef cubes
  2. Place in slow cooker
  3. Combine remaining ingredients and add to cooker
  4. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours
  5. Yield: 6 servings
  6. Per serving: 247 g water; 271 calories (25% from fat, 54% from protein, 20% from carb)
