Sausage Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. bulk sausage
  • 1/2 cup of dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 2 tsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. leaf oregano, crumbled
  • 1 lb. (1 loaf) frozen bread dough, thawed 1 tbsp. butter or margarine

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375F
  2. Brown sausage in large skillet, stirring to break meat into small pieces
  3. Drain off fat
  4. Add wine to sausage
  5. Cover and simmer 15 minutes
  6. Drain liquid
  7. Add cheese, parsley and oregano
  8. Remove pan from heat
  9. Cut dough into 8 equal pieces
  10. Pat or roll each piece into a circle able to accommodate 1/8 of the sausage filling
  11. Place filling in center of dough, fold and pinch ends securely
  12. Place on greased cookie sheet
  13. Brush rolls with butter
  14. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until browned
