  • ¾lb (375 gms) wholemeal flour
  • 1tsp salt
  • water.
  • 1-2 tablespoons oil


  1. Sieve the flour into a bowl, add the salt and gradually add water and mix until you have a soft dough which is not sticky
  2. Knead the dough a little using your hands
  3. Divide the dough into about 10
  4. Divide the dough into about 10 inches diameter
  5. Brush with some oil
  6. Fold this in half and once again brush with oil
  7. Roll out the dough to make a 5-6 inch diameter circle and cook in a hot frying pan
  8. Brush a little oil around the edges of the Paratha and turn and cook the other side
  9. The paratha is cooked when you have brown patches on both sides
  10. Repeat the process with the remaining pieces of dough
  11. Serve the Parathas warm with chutneys, dhals, curries or raita
