Chipotle Sauce or Sauces at Chipotles?

Chipotle sauce uses chipotle peppers as the main ingredient and it’s typically made as a hot an spicy sauce. Today, there are many variations of chipotle sauces and great confusion. Normally Chipotle peppers are packed in jars or cans with a sauce made of vinegar, tomato sauce, spices and other chiles. The Chipotle pepper is the result of jalapenos being smoked originally smoked for preserving. Chipotle is also called a ‘chile ahumado’ or smoked jalapeno.

Does Chipotle Mexican Restaurant have Chipotle Sauce?

The short answer is no, it doesn’t.  Whilst many items include chipotle peppers, there is not specifically a ‘Chipotle Sauce” offered.  Typically gourmet eaters mean a hot salsa sauce made with chipotle peppers, sometimes BBQ flavoured and often combined with Adobo Sauce.

Now if you are asking ‘Is Chipotle Healthy?’ here’s the thing. Chipotle have a fantastic selection with many choices so it’s really up to you to make healthy choices.  If you are looking to cut the calories or you are on a low-carb or keto diet, then watch out for rice, beans and those carb/calorie laden sauces  Sadly most of the things that make our food tasty are also the ones we need to watch.

Is Chipotle’s Food Healthy?

  1. Burritos are really not very healthy although choices play an important part  The wrap itself though is calorie and carb dense. 50g of carbs and 320 calories in a tortilla before filling.
  2. Burrito Bowls on the other hand CAN be fairly healthy, again depending on your choices.
  3. Chips and Dips – a big no no no for ‘healthy’ or ‘diet’ choices
  4. Salads are great but watch those sauces and side extras.
  5. Low Carb Diets are not easy at Chipotles and Keto options even less so.  Whilst there are some decent low-carb options (provided no extras like sauce, rice, beans) they may not be low enough to give you much choice.
  6. 3 of the 4 Chipotle lifestyle bowls are keto-friendly but the Vegan option has a whopping 52g of carbs!
