Chocolate Velvet Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 8
  • 1 package Baker’s German’s Brand sweet chocolate – broken into pieces
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 Eggs – separated
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Method

  1. Chocolate glaze for topping – see recipe
  2. Melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in flour.
  4. Blend in egg yolks, one at a time.
  5. Beat egg whites until foamy throughout.
  6. Gradually add sugar and beat until mixture will form soft peaks.
  7. Gently fold in chocolate mixture, blending thoroughly.
  8. Pour into greased and floured 8″ layer pan.
  9. Bake at 350 degrees about 20 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
  10. Cool in pan 10 minutes.
  11. Cake may settle as it cools.
  12. Remove from pan and finish cooling upside down on rack.
