New England Baked Beans Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (455 g) dried navy beans
  • ½ cup (80 g) chopped onion
  • ½ pound (225 g) ham
  • ½ cup (115 g) packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup (160 g) maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dry mustard

Method

  1. Cover beans with water
  2. Boil for 10 minutes and then let stand for 2 hours
  3. Drain and put beans in slow cooker
  4. Add all remaining ingredients along with 1 cup (235 ml) water; mix well
  5. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours
  6. For thicker beans, uncover and turn to high during last hour
  7. Yield: 8 servings
  8. Per serving: 71 g water; 236 calories (11% from fat, 18% from protein, 71% from carb)
