Crisp Pickles Slices Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 4 quarts sliced medium cucumbers
  • 6 medium white onions – sliced
  • 2 Green peppers – chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/3 cup coarse salt
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 3 cups cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons mustard seed

Method

  1. Do not pare cucumbers; slice thin.
  2. Add onions, peppers and whole garlic cloves.
  3. Add salt; cover with cracked ice; mix thoroughly.
  4. Let stand 3 hours.
  5. Drain well.
  6. Combine remaining ingredients.
  7. Pour over cucumber mixture.
  8. Heat just to boil.
  9. Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
  10. Butter and Bread type.
