Tempeh Bacon Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • 8 ounces tempeh
  • 2 tablespoons canola or grapeseed oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan of simmering water, cook the tempeh for 30 minutes
  2. Set aside to cool, then pat dry and cut it into 1/8-inch strips
  3. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat
  4. Add the tempeh slices and fry on both sides until browned, about 3 minutes per side
  5. Drizzle with the soy sauce and liquid smoke, being careful not to splatter
  6. Turn the tempeh to coat
  7. Serve hot
