Split Pea Soup With Pork Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (455 g) ground pork
  • 60 g fresh spinach, torn
  • 4 L water
  • 1 pound (455 g) split peas
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • ¾ cup (120 g) chopped onion
  • ½ cup (50 g) chopped celery
  • ½ teaspoon marjoram
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Method

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground pork; drain off fat
  2. Transfer pork to slow cooker
  3. Stir in water, peas, potatoes, onion, celery, marjoram, and pepper
  4. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours
  5. Before serving, stir soup; adjust seasonings to taste
  6. Yield: 8 servings
  7. Per serving: 345 g water; 288 calories (39% from fat, 22% from protein, 39% from carb)
