Chinese Steamed Ribs Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

Serves 4

Active Time 10 minutes

Saute; Pressure/Manual (High) Natural/Quick Release

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons black bean garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1½ pounds pork spareribs, cut into individual ribs
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped scallions, for garnish

Method

  1. Select SAUTE on the Instant Pot
  2. When the pot is hot, add the oil
  3. When the oil is hot, add the garlic and ginger
  4. Cook, stirring continuously, for 30 seconds
  5. Add the black bean sauce, wine, soy sauce, agave, and water
  6. Stir well to combine
  7. Select CANCEL
  8. Add the spareribs and stir until the ribs are well coated with the sauce
  9. Secure the lid on the pot
  10. Close the pressure-release valve
  11. Select MANUAL and set the pot at HIGH pressure for 15 minutes
  12. At the end of the cooking time, allow the pot to sit undisturbed for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure
  13. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the ribs to a serving platter
  14. Drizzle with the sesame oil, if desired, sprinkle with the scallions, and serve
