  • 2 firm Anjou or Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 2 Granny Smith or McIntosh apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/3 cup minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar

  2. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture is thickened and the liquid is absorbed, about 20 minutes
  3. Cool to room temperature
  4. If not using right away, spoon the chutney into a container with a tight-fitting lid
  5. Cover and refrigerate until needed
  6. Properly stored, this chutney will keep for up to 1 week
