Low Fat Cocoa-Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon chocolate extract
  • if desired
  • 2 egg whites or
  • 1/4 cup cholesterol-free egg product
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate
  • chips*
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • *Substitute
  • 1/2 cup carob chips.
  • Method

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix sugar, margarine, yogurt, water, vanilla, chocolate extract and egg whites in large bowl.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched.
