Crock Pot Chicken Musakhan Slow Cooker Recipe


  • 2 – 3 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 onions, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced
  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 oz. (weight) ground sumac*
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • big pinch saffron.
  • handful of pine nuts.
  • fresh mint for garnish (optional).
  • salt and pepper


  1. Combine olive oil, onions, cinnamon, sumac, allspice, saffron, and cloves in a large microwave bowl
  2. Microwave this for 2 minutes
  3. Place the chicken in the crock pot then season this with salt and pepper
  4. Remove mixture from microwave then stir this on the chicken letting the chicken nestle in the onions
  5. Cook this on for 6 hours or until the chicken is cooked
  6. Saute the pine nuts until brown in olive oil over medium-high heat
  7. Chop the mint finely
  8. Top chicken with pine nuts and mint before serving
