Mulled Wine Slow Cooker Recipe


  • ½ teaspoon whole cloves
  • ½ teaspoon whole allspice berries
  • 700 ml dry red wine
  • 9 L dry red wine

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Yield: 10 servings

  1. Use a vegetable peeler to remove peel in wide strips from the orange, being careful to avoid the bitter white part underneath
  2. For spice bag, cut a 6-inch (15 cm) square from a double thickness of cotton cheesecloth
  3. Place orange peel, broken cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice in the center of the cheesecloth square
  4. Bring up corners of the cheesecloth; tie closed with clean kitchen string
  5. In a slow cooker, combine cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, cherry juice, and brown sugar
  6. Add spice bag to cooker
  7. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 2½ to 3 hours
  8. Remove and discard spice bag
  9. Per serving: 163 g water; 162 calories (5% from fat, 3% from protein, 93% from carb)
