Barbecued Ribs Slow Cooker Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds (1.8 kg) pork back ribs
  • 480 g low-salt ketchup
  • 1 cup (275 g) chili sauce
  • ½ cup (115 g) packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) cider vinegar
  • 2 tsps oregano
  • 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
  • dash hot pepper sauce

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C, or gas mark 6)
  2. Place ribs in a shallow baking pan
  3. Brown in oven 15 minutes
  4. Turn over and brown another 15 minutes; drain fat
  5. In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, and hot pepper sauce
  6. Place ribs in slow cooker
  7. Pour sauce over ribs and turn to coat
  8. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours or until ribs are tender
  9. Yield: 8 servings
  10. Per serving: 211 g water; 766 calories (64% from fat, 20% from protein, 17% from carb)
